MERAK 2026 Launches Guinness World Record Attempt for Longest Sensory Board
MERAK 2026, a national initiative aimed at promoting autism awareness and inclusivity, was officially launched at the BCIS Lawn at BMICH, Colombo. Organised by Tree House International together with Kayden Cares Framework and Nyne Hotels, the event brought together artists, institutions, schools and universities from across Sri Lanka in support of neurodivergent communities.
A key highlight of the initiative was the Guinness World Record attempt to create the world’s longest sensory board, spanning 60 metres. The installation was designed to reflect the experiences of neurodivergent individuals through interactive artistic contributions, while also encouraging greater public understanding and acceptance of autism.
The sensory board was opened for public viewing on May 16 and 17, allowing visitors to experience the immersive display and participate in spreading awareness on autism and accessibility.
