New Generation Sri Lanka successfully organised the Elders’ Day Programme 2026 on the 11th of October 2026 at the Senior Citizens’ Home of Sri Lankadhara Society, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the health, dignity, and wellbeing of older persons. The initiative focused on providing essential healthcare services, personalised medical guidance, and wellness support while fostering compassion, community engagement, and social responsibility towards the elderly population. The programme brought together 12 elderly residents and six staff members, creating a supportive environment where participants could access basic healthcare services and receive individual attention. The initiative recognised the importance of ensuring that older persons have opportunities to maintain their physical health, emotional wellbeing, and overall quality of life.
Medical activities were conducted by a dedicated team of medical students representing the Student Union of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo. The team commenced preparations in the morning by arranging health screening stations, organising medical equipment, and preparing the necessary clinical documentation. Following participant registration, the programme officially began with welcome remarks and an introduction outlining the objectives and planned activities.
The primary healthcare screening session included blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, and Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations. These assessments were designed to provide participants with a better understanding of their current health conditions and identify potential health concerns requiring further attention. Following the screenings, participants received individual medical consultations, during which their results, personal health needs, and general wellbeing were discussed. The consultations also provided valuable opportunities to share practical guidance on maintaining healthy lifestyles and managing age-related health challenges.

The programme continued with individual therapy and wellness sessions aimed at improving the comfort, relaxation, and overall wellbeing of the elderly residents. These personalised sessions emphasised the importance of holistic care and demonstrated how meaningful engagement and compassionate attention can positively contribute to the lives of older persons.
The event concluded with heartfelt appreciation extended to the medical student team, volunteers, and staff members whose dedication and cooperation contributed to the successful implementation of the programme. Complimentary gifts were also distributed among the elderly residents as a gesture of kindness, appreciation, and respect. The project was proudly powered by Dr. Lahiru Madushan and his brand, Ministry of Beauty, a leading Sri Lankan herbal cosmetic brand operating under Level-Up Community (PVT) Ltd. Dedicated to delivering quality natural beauty products, Ministry of Beauty demonstrates its commitment to community wellbeing by supporting meaningful social initiatives that extend beyond the beauty and wellness industry.
Through the Elders’ Day Programme 2026, New Generation Sri Lanka highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare, preventive health practices, intergenerational solidarity, and collective responsibility towards older persons. The initiative reflected the organisation’s continuing dedication to building a more caring, inclusive, and healthier society where senior citizens are valued, respected, and supported throughout their later years.
