2024’s Must-See Films My Top Picks

My Favorite Movies of 2024
2024 was an exciting year for movies, with a mix of thrilling sci-fi adventures, emotional dramas, and high-energy action flicks. Here are some of my favorite movies that truly stood out last year. If you haven’t seen them yet, make sure to check them out, you’re definitely going to enjoy them!

Dune: Part Two (English)

Dune: Part Two is a masterpiece of science fiction. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, this film continues the story of Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) as he teams up with the Fremen on the desert planet Arrakis. Together, they wage war against the oppressive House Harkonnen. The film’s stunning visuals, captivating plot, and strong performances made it a joy to watch. The pace was perfect, and the character development felt natural. I was particularly impressed with how Paul’s journey was shown, from a young leader to a determined figure of power. Jessica’s unexpected transformation into a darker character added a nice twist to the story, and the reveal of the Emperor’s involvement made things even more intriguing. There were so many memorable moments, like the epic battle scenes and Paul’s bond with Chani (Zendaya). The visual effects were top-notch, and the music by Hans Zimmer gave the film an emotional depth that matched its scale. The ending was powerful, leaving me eager to see where the story goes next. Dune: Part Two is, without a doubt, one of the best sci-fi films I’ve ever seen!

Deadpool & Wolverine (English)

If you’re a fan of superhero films, Deadpool & Wolverine is a must-see! This movie brings together Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in an action-packed adventure. Deadpool teams up with Wolverine from another universe to stop a powerful force that threatens the multiverse. From the first few minutes, I was hooked. Ryan Reynolds fully embodies Deadpool, and his humor and charm make the movie so entertaining. One of my favorite moments was when Deadpool made a joke about, “206 bones in the human body” while Bye Bye Bye by NSYNC played in the background. The way the music synced with the action was genius! The action scenes were incredible, and Deadpool’s interactions with other characters were both funny and clever. Despite a few moments that might not make perfect sense plot-wise, the film shines in its entertainment value and the fantastic chemistry between Deadpool and Wolverine.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (English)

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga takes us back to the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max, focusing on the origin story of the fierce warrior Furiosa. The film is directed by George Miller, and it doesn’t disappoint. The movie shows Furiosa’s transformation from a young girl kidnapped by a warlord to the powerful leader we saw in Fury Road. Anya Taylor-Joy does an amazing job portraying Furiosa, and Chris Hemsworth plays a great antagonist as Dementus, a sinister leader. The world-building is fantastic, and the visuals, including high-speed chases and intense action scenes, kept me at the edge of my seat. The film blends thrilling action with deep themes about survival, power, and identity. It’s a perfect addition to the Mad Max universe and might even surpass Fury Road for some fans!

Amaran (Tamil)

Amaran is a deeply emotional war film based on the true story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Indian soldier who gave his life for the country. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, this film follows Mukund’s journey, focusing on his love for his wife, his devotion to the nation, and the sacrifices soldiers make. Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi give unforgettable performances as Mukund and his wife, Indhu. The film made me reflect on the true cost of freedom and the silent heroes who protect us. The scenes from the Kashmir frontlines were especially impactful, showing the harsh realities soldiers face. Amaran is not just a movie; it’s a tribute to those who sacrifice everything for the country. It’s one of the most moving films I’ve watched in a long time.

Mr. & Mrs. Mahi (Hindi)

Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is a heartwarming romantic sports drama about a couple, both named Mahi, who share a love for cricket. Mahendra (Rajkummar Rao) is a failed cricketer who supports his wife Mahima (Janhvi Kapoor) as she pursues her own cricketing dreams. The film beautifully explores themes of unfulfilled dreams, family support, and personal growth. Rajkummar Rao’s mature performance, paired with Janhvi Kapoor’s authenticity, makes the story so engaging. It’s a simple tale, but it’s told with such warmth and sincerity that I couldn’t help but get invested in the characters’ journey. The film is a great mix of sports, romance, and life lessons. It’s the perfect watch for anyone looking for a feel-good story.
