ShakthiSAT Launch Marks New Chapter in Space Education for Sri Lankan Girls
The official launch of Mission ShakthiSAT was recently held at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, bringing together representatives from the education, media, and corporate sectors to celebrate a milestone initiative focused on empowering young girls through space education.
Led by Dr. Srimathy Kesan, Founder and CEO of Space KidZ India, the programme aims to provide Sri Lankan girls with opportunities to explore Space Engineering and STEM education on a global platform. The initiative also connects Sri Lanka with 108 countries under a shared vision of inspiring and empowering the next generation of female innovators.
The programme is expected to benefit 100 girls from Sri Lanka with free access to space education while contributing to the wider global mission of empowering over 12,000 girls worldwide.
Organised in collaboration with Women in Management, the launch highlighted the importance of international collaboration, education, and women’s leadership in science and technology.
