Here’s hoping HIT 4 raises the stakes even further, because if this installment is any indication, we’re in for something truly spectacular next.

The much-anticipated third installment of the popular HIT franchise, ‘HIT: The Third Case’ (also known as HIT 3), finally arrived in theatres on 1st May 2025. Directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the film continues the gritty and cerebral universe established in the previous films, and fans of the franchise will not be disappointed. A Telugu-language action thriller, HIT 3 stars Nani in a commanding lead performance as Arjun Sarkaar and introduces Srinidhi Shetty in her Telugu debut as Mrudula. Together, they lead a film that is both emotionally driven and relentlessly intense.

HIT 3 picks up the threads of the HIT Universe with a fresh case that is darker and more psychologically complex than before. Arjun Sarkaar, portrayed with remarkable intensity by Nani, is an emotionally scarred police officer drawn into a case that pushes him to the brink of collapse. As a series of gruesome murders grip the city, Sarkaar must unravel a web of psychological mysteries, face his own traumatic past, and confront an antagonist who is both cunning and ruthless. The narrative deftly balances cerebral intrigue with visceral thrills, immersing the audience in a journey filled with twists, suspense, and emotional stakes.
The film’s first half is a masterclass in pacing and tension. Sailesh Kolanu sets the tone early, using subtle cues and smart dialogue to build intrigue. Clues are carefully planted, characters introduced with nuance, and a palpable sense

of dread grows with each new development. The second half, however, shifts gears, descending into a more action-heavy, blood-soaked territory. While this escalation might be jarring for some, it undeniably raises the stakes and puts Sarkaar’s resilience to the ultimate test. This tonal shift also underscores the duality of Arjun Sarkaar’s world, one foot in the logical, methodical world of investigation, the other in the chaos of raw violence.
Nani delivers what is easily one of his most compelling performances to date. As Arjun Sarkaar, he embodies a character who is dark, brooding, and tormented. Every look, every word, and every gesture add to the depth of his portrayal. It’s a performance that carries the film, anchoring the narrative even as the plot twists and action sequences unfold. His transformation into Sarkaar is convincing and powerful, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft.
Srinidhi Shetty, making her Telugu debut as Mrudula, holds her own opposite Nani with a performance that is heartfelt and grounded. Her character is more than just a romantic interest, she adds emotional weight to the story and brings a sense of calm to the storm that is Arjun’s life. Their on-screen chemistry is natural and engaging, adding a softer, human layer to a film otherwise dominated by darkness and violence. This emotional undercurrent keeps the audience invested in the characters, making the stakes feel personal.
The supporting cast also deserves recognition. Each character, no matter how minor, is carefully crafted and contributes meaningfully to the narrative. The world of HIT 3 feels lived-in and real, thanks to the attention to detail in both writing and performance.
The interactions among characters, the procedural aspects of the investigation, and the psychological insights are all executed with finesse.
Mickey J. Meyer, known for his melodious and often romantic compositions, delivers a surprising and effective background score. In HIT 3, Meyer embraces a darker, more atmospheric soundscape that perfectly complements the film’s tone. The music

builds tension without overwhelming the scenes, especially during key action sequences and emotionally charged moments. It is a bold departure from his usual style, and it pays off handsomely.
Visually, the film is a treat. Sanu John Varghese’s cinematography is rich with mood and texture. Every frame feels deliberate and intense, with clever use of lighting and shadows to underscore the film’s psychological themes. The visual symbolism, particularly the recurring motif of the eagle—adds layers of meaning to the story. Whether it’s a chase through dimly lit alleyways or a quiet moment of reflection, the cinematography enhances the emotional and narrative impact.
Karthika Srinivas’s editing is another strength. The film moves at a brisk pace, maintaining tension without losing clarity. Transitions between scenes are smooth, and the build-up to the climax is expertly handled. The voiceovers, flashbacks, and reveals are well-timed, ensuring that the audience remains engaged and invested.
HIT 3 is not without its flaws. The second half’s emphasis on action, while thrilling, might not appeal to viewers looking for a more grounded or emotionally nuanced conclusion. Some may find the violence excessive, and a few emotional threads feel underexplored. Certain subplots, particularly those involving side characters, could have used more development to fully pay off. Additionally, despite the film’s intelligent writing, a few moments fall into familiar thriller tropes, which slightly diminishes its originality.
Nonetheless, these shortcomings do not overshadow the film’s many strengths. HIT 3 remains a gripping, well-crafted thriller that combines smart storytelling with emotional depth. It’s a film that respects the intelligence of its audience and rewards close attention. Director Sailesh Kolanu deserves credit for maintaining the integrity of the HIT Universe while pushing its boundaries. His vision is clear, and his execution is confident.
The HIT franchise has always aimed to blend intense procedural drama with psychological insight and HIT 3 takes that mission forward. It is both an evolution and a continuation; a film that builds on what came before while charting its own path. The ending leaves room for further exploration, and fans will undoubtedly be eager for HIT 4. The groundwork has been laid for even deeper and darker storytelling.
In conclusion, HIT: The Third Case is a worthy addition to the HIT Universe. It is a film that entertains, challenges, and provokes thought. While it may not be perfect, it succeeds in delivering a cinematic experience that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant. Nani’s performance alone is reason enough to watch, but the film as a whole offers much more. For fans of intense, character-driven thrillers, HIT 3 is a must-watch. Ideally, it should be experienced on the big screen to fully appreciate its atmospheric visuals and immersive sound design.
