This isn’t a brand launch. This isn’t a content play. And this definitely isn’t a Valentine’s Day “boot song.” On the 14th of February, I’m releasing my first-ever original song; Eh Hati. And honestly? This has nothing to do with marketing. That’s what makes it scary.
Music Was Always There. Fear Was Louder.
As crazy as it sounds, music was my first love. Long before marketing decks, client meetings, or punchlines that went viral. But somewhere along the way, I boxed myself in.
- “People know you for marketing.”
- “People think you’re funny.”
- “What if they judge?”
- “What if this is cringe?”
Especially when the music isn’t athal, isn’t pop culture-friendly, and doesn’t try to please everyone.
- It comes from a deep place.
- And deep things don’t always trend.
So, I did what many of us do; I stayed silent.
The Trap of Being ‘Known’ for One Thing
Here’s the uncomfortable truth. Being known for one thing can become a prison. When the world labels you, you start self-editing. You don’t ask “What do I want to create?” You ask, “What will people accept from me?” That mindset kills art before it’s even born. And for years, I let it.
Why I’m Releasing Eh Hati Anyway
- I don’t know if this song will blow up.
- I don’t know if it’ll flop.
- I don’t even know how people will receive it.
But I do know this.
- I cooked up something honest.
- Something meaningful.
- Something that sounds like me, not an algorithm.
And putting it out there takes a ridiculous number of balls. So, this is me giving the world a heads-up. I finally stopped overthinking and pressed upload.
This Isn’t a Valentine’s Song. It’s a Statement.
- Yes, it’s dropping on Valentine’s Day.
- No, it’s not your everyday love song.
It’s quieter. More reflective. More Eh Hati than heart emojis and roses. And maybe that’s exactly the point. This article isn’t asking you to stream my song. It’s reminding you of something bigger: If you’ve been sitting on a side of yourself because people might judge; you’re already losing! On February 14th, I’m choosing expression over approval. Eh Hati. See you on the other side.
