Leather Collection Presents: A Celebration of Fashion and Craftsmanship

Leather Collection, one of Sri Lanka’s most trusted names in luxury retail for over three decades, is set to host a designer pop-up on the 31st of October and 1st of November at its flagship store on Flower Road, Colombo 7. This special two-day event will bring together three of the region’s most sought-after designers: Kaveri Lalchand of ByKaveri, Indu Abbot of NAZAR by Indu, and Charini Suriyage of CHARINI. The showcase will offer fashion enthusiasts an exclusive opportunity to explore and shop their latest collections under one roof, just in time for the festive season. Beyond being a shopping event, this pop-up represents Leather Collection’s ongoing mission to create meaningful connections between local and regional talent and a discerning audience. It reflects the brand’s enduring commitment to creativity, craftsmanship, and conscious style; a celebration of artistry in every form.

Kaveri: The Art of Effortless Elegance

Kaveri Lalchand, the creative force behind ByKaveri, has redefined linen with her unique approach to design. Her brand celebrates slow fashion through garments that are both timeless and tactile, characterised by fluid silhouettes, intricate detailing, and an earthy elegance that speaks of understated luxury. Rooted in the philosophy that fashion should feel as beautiful as it looks, Kaveri’s creations transform pure linen into pieces of wearable art. Each design is crafted with care, revealing her instinctive understanding of how women wish to look and feel, free, comfortable, and graceful. Kaveri’s journey in Sri Lanka began with Niloufer Esufally Anverally in the early 2000s, when her designs first found a home on the island’s fashion scene. What began as a heartfelt pursuit of beauty and breathability has since grown into a beloved international label, admired for its effortless elegance and quiet sophistication. Her signature style, marked by hand-painted blossoms, delicate embroidery, and soft layering, continues to captivate women across borders. At the upcoming pop-up, Kaveri will unveil a collection that embodies authenticity and celebrates the quiet strength of simplicity. It is a collection that reminds us why she remains one of India’s most admired designers, an artist whose work mirrors not just elegance, but evolution.

Charini: Where Conscious Luxury Meets Contemporary Craft

Charini Suriyage, the visionary behind CHARINI, is a designer who has long championed conscious luxury and ethical craftsmanship. Her designs tell stories of authenticity, emotion, and responsibility, each creation reflecting a deep respect for the environment and the artisans who bring her vision to life. Known for her graceful drapes, natural textures, and refined finishes, Charini’s approach to design is rooted in purpose. Every collection embodies her belief that beauty and responsibility can coexist in harmony. Her silhouettes are contemporary yet timeless, celebrating the feminine form through comfort and sophistication. In collaboration with Niloufer, Charini’s latest collection explores natural cottons and subtle textures, an evolution that blends purity of fabric with modern design sensibilities. At the pop-up, she will showcase signature and seasonal creations that highlight her dedication to mindful craftsmanship and elegant minimalism.

Charini’s work is not merely about fashion, it is a movement towards sustainability, reminding wearers that true luxury lies in consciousness. Each garment she creates serves as a quiet statement of integrity, artistry, and refined taste.

NAZAR by Indu: Timeless Craft with a Contemporary Soul

Indu Abbot, founder and designer of NAZAR by Indu, brings over three decades of experience in artistry and design. Her label is a tribute to traditional Indian craftsmanship, featuring exquisite techniques such as aari, gota-patti, and Chikankari embroidery, all reinterpreted through a modern lens. Indu’s creations effortlessly balance cultural heritage with contemporary style, offering pieces that are both rooted in tradition and relevant to today’s global woman. Her colour palettes range from the serenity of white-on-white to bursts of vibrant hues, creating garments that are versatile, sophisticated, and full of life. What distinguishes NAZAR by Indu is the designer’s intuitive understanding of form and flow. Each piece is crafted to enhance confidence and celebrate femininity, blending artisanal mastery with modern elegance. At the Leather Collection pop-up, Indu will present a festive and occasion-wear collection that celebrates her enduring design philosophy; timeless, graceful, and deeply connected to craftsmanship. Every stitch, embellishment, and contour reflects her commitment to creating clothing that tells a story of beauty and balance.

A Vision of Artistry and Collaboration

Speaking about the event, Niloufer Esufally Anverally, Founder and Managing Director of Leather Collection, expressed her excitement at bringing these three celebrated designers together. “We’re thrilled to bring together Kaveri Lalchand, Indu Abbot, and Charini Suriyage, three incredible women whose work represents creativity, authenticity, and individuality,” said Niloufer. “Each one of them has a distinct design philosophy, yet they are all bound by a shared commitment to craftsmanship and timeless design.” Niloufer’s relationship with these designers is rooted in friendship and mutual respect. “Kaveri, Charini, and Indu have been dear friends and long-standing associates of mine,” she continued. “It gives me great pleasure to reintroduce Kaveri and Indu to Sri Lanka through this special showcase. Together with Charini, whose contemporary and conscious approach to fashion we deeply admire, this pop-up represents a beautiful dialogue between design philosophies; each unique yet connected.”  Leather Collection, which has been synonymous with refined taste and quality since its inception, has always championed stories of craftsmanship and design integrity. “Leather Collection has always been about more than just fashion,” Niloufer added. “It’s about telling stories through design and celebrating the artistry behind every piece. This pop-up is, above all, a celebration of women, the women who design and the women who wear their creations with confidence.”

Set within the elegant ambiance of Leather Collection’s flagship store on Flower Road, this two-day event promises to be more than a retail experience.
