David Beckham

THE WEEKEND SPOTLIGHT

David Beckham’s 50th birthday was a global celebration, marked by a series of lavish events attended by family, friends, and celebrities. However, the absence of his eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, and daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz, cast a shadow over the festivities, highlighting underlying family tensions.

A Global Celebration: Miami Kick-Off

The celebrations began in Miami with a black-tie soirée attended by sports legends Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Tom Brady, and Shaquille O’Neal, as well as actors Justin Theroux and Fisher Stevens, and singer Marc Anthony. Victoria’s Spice Girls bandmate, Melanie Brown, also graced the event.

French Sojourn

On his actual birthday, May 2, the family embarked on a luxurious trip to Bordeaux, indulging in wine tasting and dining at Paris’s renowned L’Ami Louis, before retreating to the five-star La Reserve hotel.

The celebrations culminated with a lavish dinner at London’s Michelin-starred restaurant Core by Clare Smyth. The guest list boasted names like Tom Cruise, Salma Hayek, Jason Statham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Gordon Ramsay, and Eva Longoria.

Brooklyn and Nicola’s Absence

Despite being in the UK shortly before the events, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz did not attend any of the celebrations or a family fishing trip in Scotland. Tensions have reportedly escalated to the point where Brooklyn and Nicola no longer attend family events and haven’t been seen with the family since Christmas. David Beckham is reportedly deeply concerned, fearing he may have “lost Brooklyn forever,” a sentiment echoing his past estrangement from his own father. Further complicating matters, Brooklyn is said to have felt uncomfortable attending the bash due to the presence of Romeo’s girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, who according to sources, previously dated both Romeo and Brooklyn. Nicola has faced online criticism for their absence, though sources claim she remains a supportive partner.

Cotswolds Bash

Eva Longoria

On April 30, Beckham hosted a family gathering at his £10 million Cotswolds estate. Victoria dazzled in a navy silk dress of her own design, while their children Romeo, Cruz, and Harper were present. Notably absent were Brooklyn and Nicola, whose nonattendance fuelled speculation about familial discord.

A Family in Transition

While David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations were a testament to his illustrious career and wide-reaching influence, the absence of his eldest son highlighted the complexities of family relationships in the public eye. As the Beckhams navigate these challenges, fans and observers alike hope for reconciliation and a return to family unity.
