The Ceylon Moor Ladies’ Union Celebrates 90 Years of Empowering Muslim Women
The Ceylon Moor Ladies' Union (CMLU) celebrated its 90th anniversary, marking nine decades of dedicated service towards the education, welfare and empowerment of Muslim women and girls. The commemorative event was held with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya as the Chief Guest, who acknowledged the pioneering efforts of the organisation's founders and highlighted the importance of preserving the legacy of Muslim women's contributions to Sri Lanka's history.
The celebration brought together distinguished guests, past and present members, and children of the CMLU Home for Girls. The programme featured cultural performances, the screening of a documentary showcasing the Union's journey, the launch of a commemorative souvenir, and recognition of long-serving members for their invaluable service. The event also reflected on CMLU's continued commitment to supporting vulnerable girls through education, care and community service.
