The BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRICS CCI) proudly welcomed Dr. Sulochana Segera, a pioneering social entrepreneur, gender equality advocate, and Founder and Chairperson of Women in Management (WIM), to the 5th Annual BRICS CCI WE Women’s Summit and Felicitations 2025. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to gender equity, MSME development, and corporate leadership, Dr. Segera was honoured as a BRICS CCI - Trailblazer Global Women Icon.
With over 26 years of leadership, Dr. Segera has been a catalyst for change, transforming Women in Management, into a global movement with a presence in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Canada, UAE, Africa, Malaysia, and the UK. Her initiatives, including the Top50 Professional and Career Women Awards, the New Generation Awards, and the WIM Single Mother Project, have empowered thousands of women worldwide. Her unwavering dedication to female leadership has earned her recognition at the UK House of Commons and the prestigious Global Women Empowerment Icon Award. The BRICS CCI Women’s Summit and Felicitations, held at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, was a grand celebration of women leaders driving impactful change globally. Dr. Segera was honoured alongside ten distinguished women changemakers from BRICS nations and beyond, including:

The BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a key organization committed to fostering economic cooperation, trade, and investment among BRICS nations. The award ceremony was designed to highlight the extraordinary achievements of women who are reshaping industries, driving social transformation, and championing gender equity on a global scale. As part of the recognition, Dr. Segera was also featured in the “SHE FOR HER: Celebrating Women Changemakers” Coffee Table Book, a tribute to her remarkable 20- year journey in women’s empowerment.
This honour coincides with the 15th anniversary of Women in Management (WIM), an organization that has significantly contributed to leadership advancement across multiple sectors. In her powerful acceptance speech, Dr. Segera highlighted the importance of evolving discussions on gender equity: “We should speak more about equity than equality. We should collaborate with men rather than compete with them, and women must mentor more women successors to celebrate collective success.”
The Summit and Award Ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including New Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Smt. Smriti Irani, Former Hon’ble Minister of Women and Child Development of India, alongside esteemed state officials, diplomats, and global business leaders. The BRICS CCI Trailblazer Global Women Icon Awards continue to shine a spotlight on women who are pioneering innovation, leading industries, and creating lasting social and economic impact. Dr. Sulochana Segera’s recognition at this esteemed platform further underscores her relentless commitment to empowering women and fostering inclusive leadership worldwide.
