  • The Gratiaen Trust hosted the 33rd Gratiaen Prize ceremony, bringing together writers, literary enthusiasts, academics, and distinguished guests to celebrate excellence in Sri Lankan English literature.

    The highlight of the evening was the announcement of writer, filmmaker and lawyer Visakesa Chandrasekaram as the winner of the 33rd Gratiaen Prize for his novel The Son and the Lover. With this achievement, Chandrasekaram became the first writer in the history of the Gratiaen Prize to win the prestigious award twice.

    The annual award recognizes outstanding creative writing in English by Sri Lankan authors and continues to play a significant role in promoting literary excellence in the country. The event also celebrated the contributions of the shortlisted authors and reaffirmed the Gratiaen Prize's commitment to nurturing creative talent and literary achievement.

    Held at The Studio, Cinnamon Life, the ceremony highlighted the enduring legacy of the Gratiaen Prize and its importance in Sri Lanka's literary landscape. The event was organized with the support of several partner organizations and attended by members of the literary and cultural community.
