Lanka Japan Friendship Society Hosts ’’Facets of Japanese Culture – III’’

The Lanka Japan Friendship Society (LJFS), in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, successfully hosted the third edition of its cultural lecture series, “Facets of Japanese Culture – III”, on Saturday, 21st June 2025. The event took place at the Auditorium of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka, Colombo 7, and was attended by a distinguished audience of over 100 guests.
The evening was graced by H.E. the Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest, underscoring the close ties between the two nations. The highlight of the event was an insightful lecture on Japanese Art and Paintings delivered by Lt. Col. Dr. Asanka Pallewatta, Director, International Centre at the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.
In addition to the lecture, the audience was treated to captivating demonstrations of Japanese martial arts and the traditional tea ceremony, along with exhibits of Bonsai and Ikebana floral arrangements, offering a vibrant experience of Japan’s cultural heritage.
LJFS, Sri Lanka’s oldest inter-country friendship society established in 1956, continues to serve as a bridge for cultural, social, and business engagement between Sri Lanka and Japan. Events like these reaffirm its longstanding commitment to deepening mutual understanding and friendship.
