A good watch for fans of thrillers, real-life inspired stories, and powerful performances.
Raid 2 is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. It is the sequel to the 2018 hit Raidand brings back Ajay Devgn as the honest IRS officer Amay Patnaik. The movie continues to explore income tax raids and white-collar crimes, taking the audience on another intense journey of corruption, power, and justice. Set seven years after the first film, Raid 2 was released on May 1, 2025, and turned out to be a commercial success, becoming the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year
Amay Patnaik, now known for conducting 74 successful raids, is transferred once again, this time to a fictional town called Bhoj in Rajasthan. He is assigned to investigate Dada Manohar Bhai, a corrupt and powerful politician involved in hiding large sums of black money. During the raid, Amay faces political pressure and is suspended. But after his suspension is lifted, he continues his mission with determination. The turning point comes when Dada Bhai’s mother, persuaded by Amay's wife Malini, convinces her son to surrender. The film ends with the suggestion of another powerful villain, hinting at a third film in the series.
- Ajay Devgn as Amay Patnaik (IRS Officer)
- Riteish Deshmukh as Dada Manohar Bhai (Corrupt Politician)
- Vaani Kapoor as Malini Patnaik
- Supporting cast includes Rajat Kapoor, Amit Sial, Yashpal Sharma, Supriya Pathak, and Govind Namdev.
The movie stays true to the core theme of Raid, uncovering corruption and standing up for justice. Ajay Devgn once again impresses with his calm and commanding performance. Riteish Deshmukh steals the spotlight as the villain, showcasing a strong, menacing presence. The screenplay is fast-paced, the raid sequences are smartly executed, and the dialogues are impactful. The cinematography captures the tension and local settings beautifully, while the background music keeps the suspense alive. The hint of a Raid 3 at the end adds excitement for fans of the franchise.
While the main story is strong, Raid 2 suffers from a few weak points. Vaani Kapoor’s role as Malini feels underdeveloped, and her presence is mostly limited to emotional scenes or song sequences. Compared to the first movie, which had tighter storytelling and a more personal conflict, this sequel sometimes leans on familiar formulas and lacks a few emotional highs.
Raid 2 is a solid and gripping sequel with excellent performances and a meaningful message about fighting corruption. Although not perfect, it keeps the audience engaged with smart storytelling and strong character moments. If you enjoyed the first Raid, this sequel is definitely worth watching.
