The staff, too, deserve a shoutout, they’re friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to care about creating a great customer experience. From helping with menu suggestions to checking in with a smile, their service adds a personal touch that elevates the entire dining experience.
Now, on to the food, and this is where Smash Burger truly shines.
One of the standout dishes during our visit was the Chicken Bolognese Pasta. It’s not often you expect to find an Italian-style pasta dish at a fast-food joint, but this one was exceptional. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the chicken, juicy, well-seasoned, and generously portioned, blended beautifully with the rich tomato-based sauce. The spices were thoughtfully balanced, adding a welcome zing without overpowering the overall flavour. It’s a dish we’d gladly return for.
Next, we dug into the Crispy Chicken Burger, and it lived up to its name in every way. The chicken was fried to golden perfection, maintaining a crunchy exterior while remaining moist and tender on the inside. The soft bun held everything together nicely, while the sauce inside added a creamy layer of flavour that complemented the chicken rather than overwhelming it. Each bite was a delightful mix of textures and tastes.
Another menu item that stood out was the BBQ Sub. Rich and smoky, the barbecue sauce had depth without being too sweet. The meat inside was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sub roll was robust enough to hold the generous filling without falling apart. It’s a sandwich that delivers serious comfort food vibes, the kind that leaves you licking your fingers and planning your next visit. For those visiting in a group or looking for something shareable, the Chicken Bucket is a solid choice. We opted for the eight-piece version, and it was both filling and flavourful. Each piece was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a well-seasoned coating that packed just enough punch.
The portion size is generous, making it ideal for sharing with friends or family.
Drinks are often an afterthought in fast food joints, but Smash Burger takes them seriously. We sampled the Passion Cooler and the Strawberry Burst. While the Passion Cooler was decent, refreshing but somewhat understated, the Strawberry Burst stole the show. Sweet, fruity, and instantly refreshing, it was a unanimous favourite at our table. It paired especially well with the spicier items on the menu, offering a cooling contrast.
We also tried their breakfast combo, which includes a Seeni-Sambol & Egg Burger, an Americano, and three Hash Browns. The burger was a fusion-style delight, cheesy, spicy, and filled with the umami punch of traditional seeni-sambol. The hash browns, however, were the unexpected star. Perfectly golden and crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, they’re easily some of the best hash browns we’ve tried in Colombo.
The Americano was smooth and robust, rounding out a satisfying breakfast that was both affordable and flavour packed.

You can tell that thought has gone into curating a menu that offers variety without compromising on flavour.
