The Met Gala 2025 was more than a red-carpet event. It was a stage for self-expression, storytelling, and sartorial symbolism. Under the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, the evening celebrated heritage, identity, and the evolution of fashion as a cultural force. While the tailoring took centre stage, it was the jewellery that truly captured the essence of the night. Every gem, pendant, and pin told a story, turning adornment into narrative.
The Power of the Pendant
Some jewellery didn’t just complement a look, it defined it. Anne Hathaway arrived in a high jewellery piece from Bvlgari featuring a sapphire framed in radiant diamonds. The necklace offered a regal focal point against her monochrome silhouette, balancing drama with elegance.
Gabrielle Union chose the “Ray of Light” necklace from Tiffany & Co.’s 2024 Blue Book Celeste collection, boasting over 80 carats of diamonds and vivid red spinels. It was a bold and brilliant tribute to strength and legacy.
Halle Berry embraced Cartier’s Tsagaan suite, a geometric tribute to the Mongolian snow leopard. With over 31 carats of diamonds and accents of onyx, the piece embodied power, grace, and craftsmanship.

The Return of the Brooch
The brooch made a remarkable return, emerging as one of the evening’s most compelling trends. Lewis Hamilton wore a vintage Briony Raymond design from the 1980s, combining white, yellow, and pink diamonds with confident ease.
Ayo Edebiri added a touch of whimsy with a 1966 Cartier brooch in the shape of a dog, crafted in yellow gold with ruby eyes and enamel detail.
Shah Rukh Khan made his Met Gala debut with a look rooted in cultural grandeur. His ensemble featured a regal brooch, layers of talismanic chains, and an 18-carat gold cane. It was a rich blend of tradition, masculinity, and personal narrative.

A Celebration of Colour
Coloured gemstones took centre stage, shifting the spotlight away from diamonds alone. Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore Bvlgari’s unreleased Magnus Emerald necklace, which featured a record-breaking emerald as its centrepiece of 241.06 carats, which is the largest faceted stone ever set by Bvlgari.
Rosé of BLACKPINK chose quiet elegance with Tiffany & Co., wearing a pendant set with an unenhanced 14-carat sapphire. Her look was completed with a matching ring, offering a subtle interpretation of gemstone luxury.
Demi Moore stood out for her commitment to sustainability, choosing jewellery by Shiphra, a brand known for ethical and conflict-free stones.

Diamonds, Reinvented
Heidi Klum shimmered in a Lorraine Schwartz necklace featuring a floating oval diamond that appeared to hover weightlessly at her collarbone. The diamond is attached to an invisible string, creating a floating effect.
Hailey Bieber layered several diamond pieces from Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book collection, one of which featured a centre stone exceeding 25 carats. Her look was a lesson in how to wear serious jewellery with effortless cool.
Kendall Jenner opted for timeless grace with a diamond necklace by Chopard. The necklace featured a 12.37-carat diamond, and 76.11 carats of other natural diamonds set in 18-karat white gold. It brought balance and light to her structured look, proving the enduring power of classic elegance.

Icon of the Evening
Isha M. Ambani delivered one of the most memorable jewellery moments of the evening in a necklace from her personal collection. Featuring over 481 carats of flawless diamonds, the piece was a bespoke tribute to Cartier’s legendary Toussaint Necklace. Famously replicated for Anne Hathaway’s character in the 2018 film Ocean’s 8, the original Toussaint no longer exists. However, with access to Cartier’s archival records, Ambani was able to have her own interpretation crafted. An extraordinary blend of cinematic fantasy and real-life luxury. Worn with a custom Anamika Khanna couture ensemble, the necklace shimmered with historical significance and modern majesty.

The Final Touch
Watches and high jewellery accessories added a finishing note to many of the evening’s looks. Maluma wore the Emerald Billionaire III timepiece by Jacob & Co., valued at five million dollars and set entirely with emeralds in an 18K white gold casing.
Colman Domingo layered Boucheron’s Iceberg necklace with an unreleased OMEGA Speedmaster crafted in 18K gold. The combination of jewellery and timepiece brought precision and polish to his co-chair presence.
A$AP Rocky embraced Bvlgari’s Polychroma collection, wearing a platinum necklace featuring a 12.29-carat ruby surrounded by over 46 carats of diamonds. His look fused maximalism with restraint, proving that jewellery can speak volumes without saying a word.

Jewellery with a Message
Some of the night’s most poignant jewellery moments came from pieces that carried deeper meaning. Actor Damson Idris made his debut as a designer, launching his brand DIDRIS on the red carpet. He wore a brooch set with an 11-carat emerald and a gold tourmaline pendant created in honour of his mother.
Sam Smith wore sculptural pieces by KHIRY Fine Jewellery, including the “Jug” brooch and the Iklwa earrings. These designs referenced resistance, identity, and the African diaspora, embodying both beauty and meaning.
Tyla offered a fresh perspective on accessibility by wearing a Pandora lab-grown diamond choker priced under 200 dollars. It was a quiet but powerful reminder that intention and beauty should not be reserved for the few.

Jewellery as Identity
At the Met Gala 2025, jewellery was more than embellishment. It was language. It carried personal history, cultural symbolism, and creative daring. Every stone had a story. Every metal was a memory. Jewellery this year did not whisper; it sang. And in doing so, it reminded the world that style is not only worn. It is lived.
