Offering the First-Ever Opportunity for Hip-Hop Producers to Sell Beats
- This is Sri Lanka’s first digital marketplace just for Hip-Hop producers. It gives them a stage they never had before, to be seen, to be heard, and to earn.
- We’ve just launched Sri Lanka’s first fully systemized music studio website. It’s a game-changer for how artists and labels access Mixing, Mastering, and Music Production services.
QAzim, your journey into music started quite early. Can you tell us about that?
Absolutely. My journey began when I was just six. My father, a talented guitarist and mouth organist, took me to my very first drum class. Growing up, music wasn’t just around me; it was in me. My mother was a radio presenter, so creativity and rhythm were a part of everyday life. It was more than a hobby; it was a way of being.
QHow did you go from drumming to producing music?
It all shifted when I was 14. I was in a computer programming class and stumbled across FL Studio 3. I started making beats for fun, but it quickly grew into something much deeper. Even while working for a five-star airline, I’d spend my nights refining tracks. I couldn’t shake the dream; I didn’t want to.
QAnd then you came back to Sri Lanka?
Yes. I saved up and made the decision to return. I built my studio from the ground up. That was about a year and a half ago. Today, Azim Ousman Studios serves clients from around the world. It’s proof that if you stick with it, passion can become global recognition.
QAYou recently launched something groundbreaking in Sri Lanka. Tell us about that.
We’ve just launched Sri Lanka’s first fully systemized music studio website. It’s a game-changer for how artists and labels access Mixing, Mastering, and Music Production services.
QWhat makes this website stand out in the local industry?
It’s designed to be both functional and nostalgic. Artists can book studio sessions online by selecting exact dates and times, all through a glitch-style, cyberpunk-inspired interface. It’s a nod to the CD era, that magical time when many of us fell in love with music.
QWho’s the mind behind all this innovation?
That would be me! I’ve been mixing and mastering since 2006. Over the years, I’ve gone from an R&B kid to someone who’s deeply embedded in the Hip-Hop scene. I’ve been called the “King of Mixing and Mastering” in Sri Lanka, and I’m proud to own that.
QWhat’s one of your biggest achievements to date?
Engineering “RAAT” by Shen B for T-Series was a major moment. It’s reached millions worldwide. Being able to blend local talent with international reach; that’s powerful.
QIs your influence limited to the music world?
Not at all. My sound has shaped ad campaigns for big names like Elephant House, Maliban, Anton, AIA Insurance, and Asian Paints. I’m just as comfortable working with brands as I am with bars and beats.
QTell us about ‘Young Melody’s Beats World’.
It’s a special section on the website: http://www.azimousman.com where artists can purchase exclusive, high-quality beats, and producers can list theirs for sale. Every purchase includes full rights, unlimited revisions, and professional mixing and mastering. It’s fast, intuitive, and built for real users.
QHow does this platform support local producers?
This is Sri Lanka’s first digital marketplace just for Hip-Hop producers. It gives them a stage they never had before, to be seen, to be heard, and to earn. It’s about creating opportunity.
QAnd what about record labels? Are there collaborations in the pipeline?
Absolutely. We’re already partnering with labels like Bonfire, Airxone, and Desawana Music. Labels can now get exclusive discounts for their signed artists, which creates a smoother, more integrated collaboration system.
QYou also contribute to music education. How so?
I run the Azim Ousman Mixing Masterclass, an advanced course built around FL Studio; the same DAW I use professionally. I’m also a beta tester for Output’s Co-Producer Delta software and have even been featured by FL Studio’s official Instagram. That kind of global nod means a lot.
QWhat’s your larger vision for this platform?
I want to build an entire ecosystem, one that connects artists, producers, brands, and record labels under a single digital roof. This isn’t just a business. It’s a movement for innovation, education, and real growth in Sri Lanka’s music scene.
QFinal thoughts for those chasing the same dream?
My story isn’t about overnight success. It’s about consistency, grit, and love for the craft. From banging drums at six to mixing global hits today, I never gave up on music. If you’re passionate and relentless, anything is possible.
And if you're serious about your sound, I invite you to step into the future with us at:
