The Songs We Grew Up With

Music has a way of touching the soul, whether it lifts us when we are feeling low or fills us with joy when spirits are high. On Saturday, 18 October 2025, at 6.00 pm, the Ladies’ College Hall will come alive with melodies and memories at a very special concert, “The Songs We Grew Up With.”

This one-of-a-kind musical extravaganza, organized by the Association of Former Staff of Ladies’ College, is presented in aid of the medical fund for retired teachers at the school. More than just an evening of entertainment, the concert is a tribute to cherished voices and timeless songs that shaped our journeys and remain part of our shared heritage.

The program will feature the internationally acclaimed De Lanerolle Brothers, whose artistry and vocal harmony have earned them fans across the globe. They will be joined by the renowned Neranjan De Silva on keyboards, adding depth and brilliance to the evening’s music. Adding a personal touch, the stage will also showcase the talents of beloved Ladies’ College alumni: Anushka Abhayaratne, Devashrie De Silva, Dinushka Jayewickrema, Peshali Yapa, Seneli Premaratne, and the always-captivating voices of the LC Choristers.

Another highlight of the evening will be the performances by the Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Choirs of Ladies’ College. Trained and conducted by Anushka Abhayaratne and Baghyanee Benedict, these ensembles promise to bring both grace and energy, reminding us of the school’s long tradition of nurturing excellence in the performing arts.

True to the spirit of Ladies’ College, the concert is more than a fundraiser. It is a celebration of talent, community, and the timeless power of music to unite generations. The evening will present a rich variety of genres; songs to stir the heart, melodies to bring back memories, and rhythms to set your feet tapping. It promises to be a night when nostalgia blends with vibrant performance, leaving the audience uplifted and inspired.
