Manoji Wadugodapitiya, Group CEO, PAMS Hydro, a leading voice in Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector, was a distinguished guest speaker at the Hydropower 2.0 Workshop held at POWERGEN India. The event, co-hosted by the High Commission of Canada in India, Nepal, and Bhutan together with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), brought together experts from India, Canada, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to deliberate on the future of sustainable hydropower in the Indo-Pacific region.
01.The workshop explored critical themes shaping the next generation of clean energy, including the role of hydropower in flexibility and storage, the importance of cross-border hydro projects, and the potential of multilateral platforms in accelerating the global energy transition. Inaugurated by Ryan Ward, Acting Minister (Commercial) of Canada, alongside senior Indian officials Ajay Talegaonkar and A.K. Saxena, the event also featured Canadian hydropower expert Gilbert Bennett, who highlighted Canada’s global leadership in flexible and sustainable hydropower solutions.
As a guest speaker, Manoji contributed valuable insights from Sri Lanka’s perspective, emphasizing the island’s strategic role in advancing regional energy cooperation. Her participation underscored the importance of South Asian collaboration in harnessing hydropower’s potential not only as a renewable energy source but also as a driver of regional integration and resilience.
