“Double Blue Resonance” promises to be a night where music, memory, and heritage come alive. On the 10th of January 2026, the majestic Main College Hall of Wesley College will echo with harmony as the Wesley College Choir takes the stage under the direction of Priyanthi Seneviratne Van Dort, accompanied by the dynamic sounds of the band Neighbors. This spectacular evening will celebrate the vibrant young talent of Wesley, performing timeless pop classics from the 70s to the 90s and through to contemporary songs that continue to move hearts across generations.

Adding to the evening’s magic, distinguished Old Boys Hemal Kuruvitaarachchi and Angelo Gamage will return to the stage as guest artists, delivering toe-tapping performances that will surely have audiences singing along. The concert, organized by the Old Boys’ Union, is in aid of the Iconic Hall Development Project, a cause that unites past and present Wesleyites in continuing the heritage of excellence that began within these very walls.
The Principal and the Old Boys’ Union warmly invite all Past and Present students, together with their families, to be part of this musical celebration. Your presence will not only encourage the talented choristers of Wesley but also contribute to preserving the enduring legacy of the hall that has witnessed generations of achievement, camaraderie, and song.

Wesley’s choir holds a proud and melodic history dating back to 1907, when Mrs. Edith Cash, wife of Vice Principal Rev. P.T. Cash, first trained the choir. Her dedication soon bore fruit when Wesley won the part-singing contest offered to a boys’ school for the very first time, an achievement that set the tone for more than a century of musical excellence. Over the years, the choir has flourished under the guidance of renowned trainers including Mrs. Utting, Ethel Mack, Haig Karunaratne, Racheal Halliday, and now Priyanthi Seneviratne Van Dort.
The golden era of Wesley choir music shone brilliantly in the 1970s under Mr. Haig Karunaratne, when Wesley’s harmonious blend of sopranos, altos, and basses filled churches and auditoriums alike, leaving audiences spellbound. That same spirit of unity and passion now returns with “Double Blue Resonance”, a tribute to the school’s proud musical heritage and its bright future.
